PAYE end-of-year tasks

The tax year ends around 5 April. If you have a PAYE (pay as you earn) scheme in operation there are certain tasks you have to complete and a deadline you will have to meet.

The most important requirement is to file your Employer Annual Return (form P35 and forms P14).

Your year-end returns must now be filed on line.

To file online you will need to register for HM Revenue & Customs' PAYE. Registering to file on line can take up to seven day we would be more than happy to do this for you. There are penalties if you file your annual return late so make sure you are registered in plenty of time.

To get started with preparing your year end for filing you must agree all of your employees’ individual payroll record and agree the details on your employees’ P11 forms.

You will need the agreed P11 figures it to complete and file your Employer Annual Return (P35 and P14s).

Start to finalize your payroll records after your last payday before the tax year ends on 5 April, usually after the March payroll as your completed Employer Annual Return must reach HMRC by 19 May.
